Patriots On The Pitch – NIT World Cup Champs and Hosts of 2026 World Cup!

 Take Notice:

HEY FRANCE, HOW DID THE USMNT‘s BIG BAGUETTE TASTE? Yeah, Les Bleus got bent over and pounded off the pitch as the USMNT brought the pain train through!

The kids went in to Lyon against a far better opponent and did their thing. The USMNT sat 5 in the back, played an old-school defensive US match and tried to hit quick on counters or mistakes by France. Well it worked. The USMNT, with a very young squad, scored their first ever goal against Les Bleus and earned a hard-fought draw against the 7th best ranked team in the world whom many are picking to win the World Cup. Julian Green thought it was freaking 2014 vs Belgium all over again, our defense stood tall, our midfielders battled, Matt Miazga reduced Olivier Giroud‘s hat size and IQ simultaneously, and Zack “The Great Wall of Columbus” Steffen… well, you know what he did…

Quick Hit Player Ratings –

Zack Steffen (GK) – 8.5 and MOTM – The man did the damn thing. Enough said. RIP Bill Hamid. The only thing that could’ve made his performance better would have been a bald eagle landing on his shoulder at the full-time whistle.

Antonee Robinson (RB) – 7 – got forward as much as he could, great speed and recovery back to defense, had a beautiful run and cross that ended just out of the reach of Bobby Wood,

Matt Miazga (CB) – 7.5 – excellent passing through the channels and picking out running midfielders, finally someone took a chunk out of Olivier Giroud‘s big head,

Tim Parker (CB) – 6.5 – did not mark his man well on corners, his passing out of the back needs much improvement, he gave the ball away cheaply a few times, but he held his own on the back line and blocked shots and crosses well.

Cameron Carter-Vickers (CB) – 7.5 – beast in the box, great clearances, blocked shots well, smarter passing this match, but he did have a bad slip that let France get their goal.

Shaq Moore (LB) – 6.5 – fast, physical, solid crosses, great getting forward, let attacker get behind him a few times but recovered well, passing up the touch line needs improvement as well

Wil Trapp (DM) – 5 – got roasted and bodied in the midfield, lazy and poor passing, he needs to pick up the speed of his game and vision if he expects to make it on this team, but it should be noted that a lot is asked of him in that No. 6 role.

Weston McKennie (CM) – 6 – warrior of the midfield, he battled with physicality and was one player the French did not want defending against them. This is the attitude we need in our midfield.

Tyler Adams (CM) – 6 – the little engine that could and did, he was all over the midfield and certainly made Paul Pogba‘s life terrible. I would like to see him make more runs like he did against Paraguay though. He’s been too stagnant in the midfield and needs to create more.

Julian Green (F) – 5.5 – pretty sure he only had two touches all game, one a bad giveaway and the other a goal. Come on Julian, we want to like you when you score!

Bobby Wood (F) – 5 – the offside calls need to stop, would’ve had the game winning goal, but hold up play and his vision need to improve. He wants to take it alone a lot, but he gets dispossessed too easily.

SUBS – Erik Palmer-Brown – 6.5 – on for the bleeding Miazga and he locked it down. You didn’t hear his name much, but had good clearances and did his job quietly as you want your CB to do; Joe Corona – 5 – had the one dangerous cross, but don’t know why he was put in instead of Tim Weah; DeAndre Yedlin – N/A; Josh Sargent – N/A, but good build up with Adams and Corona late; and Jorge Villafana – N/A, got beat in his short time.

Manager Rating – 7 – Dave Sarachan brought in a new formation, played the kids, but could’ve done better on the changes. It was good to see and old school USMNT defensive performance to test our back line and wing backs, but as this team grows I would expect a different game plan and formation. He did what he was supposed to do during this changeover period. He brought in the youth, he gave them good experience, and he helped bring them together as teammates. He even managed to get some good results along the way and restored optimism in the USMNT after probably their lowest point ever.

With this great result, the USMNT can say that they WON THE NIT WORLD CUP!!!!!

2026 World Cup Vote

WE HAVE WON THE BID FOR THE 2026 WORLD CUP!!!! FIFA IS WILLING TO TAKE OUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morocco put up a valiant effort, but in the end they took the L like they should have. The joint bid between Canada, USA, and Mexico ultimately won the vote with 134 votes compared to Morocco’s 65 votes. The joint bid won by garnering great support from CONMEBOL, CONCACAF, some woke African nations, and UEFA. Thanks to all for letting Morocco take home the only thing they deserved…

The Joint bid currently has the following cities/stadiums listed for the 2026 World Cup:

Canada: Montreal, Quebec; Edmonton, Alberta; and Toronto, Ontario.

Mexico: Mexico City; Monterrey, Nuevo Leon; and Guadalajara, Jalisco.

The Mother Land (USA): Los Angeles, NYC, DC, Dallas, Kansas City, Denver, Houston, Baltimore, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Nashville, Seattle, San Francisco, Boston, Cincinnati, Miami, and Orlando.

So prepare your travel plans and save your shekels because the summer of 2026 is going to be the USMNT’s and America’s greatest display to the world of what we can do.

WHAT NOW

With the World Cup starting, the USMNT have a long break until September 11th when they will face Mexico in Nashville, TN. Patriots On The Pitch will keep you updated on transfers, new USMNT news, hopefully announcing the new coach prior to our match vs Mexico, and any other noteworthy stories that arise. We will continue to support our Patriots as the new seasons in Europe kick off and as MLS continues. There will always be something for me to rant and rave about, or if there isn’t, I’ll just blow something way out of proportion. This is America, we do what we want because we’re INVINCIBLE!!!

Until next time, keep up the support for our Patriots On The Pitch, celebrate the fact that we’ll make the World Cup in 2026 because everyone is coming into our house, enjoy the low energy World Cup in Russia without the US, get ready for some top notch friendlies later this year, and go out and grab life like an American!
